The View From Raymond, New Hampshire (Sunday Check-In)

I’m on semi-vacation this week, staying with a friend in the town of Raymond, New Hampshire. I’ve written about it before and my thoughts haven’t changed. It’s a great place to chill out, a better place to work, and the best place to do both at the same time.

As I write this, it’s a little after eight in the morning, a light rain is falling, and I have my first cup of coffee sitting on the table in front of me. I’m up, but only half awake, working myself up to starting my day. In the meantime, I’ll catch you up on the goal front.

This Site

Yup, still here, still positing. I haven’t put up less than three a week since I started ROW80, although two of those posts are check-ins like this one. Hey, whatever works.

My Friday posts have turned political in nature, and there’s not a book review to be seen. Regarding that last bit, I’m sorry. I’ve had no time for fiction these last few weeks, and can’t say when I will. It’s a bummer all around, but we’re just going to have to accept it for a little longer.

Freelancing

I’ve put 10 articles up for sale on a site (still not telling) and sold two of them. From what I understand of this place, that’s very good for someone who’s only been on the site a couple weeks. I have eight or so articles on my hard drive in various states of doneness, and should be submitting two more today.

I also have three articles I want to put up on Yahoo! Voices, but I haven’t gotten around to polishing them off. There’s no great reason there, I just haven’t done it. Is it possible to slack on a goal even as you’re rocking it?

Ugh. That’s not a question fit for a man with less than a full cup of coffee in him.

Hi Jeff, congratulations on getting those article sold! At times, getting any work sold is a frustrating process, so great work and one day, I look forward to discovering where…

Enjoy your semi-vacation and I will look forward to seeing how you’re doing further down the track.

    Cheers,

    Cate (ROW80)

I’m staying quiet about where I’m putting my stuff up only because there are so many sites out there that make a living by ripping off writers. Once I see the money in my account, I’ll share the site. I just don’t want to inadvertently advertise a site that hurts writers.

So far I’ve had nothing but good vibrations, but still, show me the money.
