It’s Been a Grim Sort of Week or Two

I haven’t done much of anything over the last week or two, apart from not sleeping and being unable to concentrate. That’s not a very good recipe for accomplishing things.

Most of my time has been spent watching Netflix, playing Europa Universalis III, and trying to get enough of my brain cells working together so I can read. In other words, pretty typical crap for the Bad Days that aren’t always comfortably behind me.

And those Bad Days are still going strong. I think I might be turning a corner, but who knows. Even if I am, the light’s so far past the bend that I’ll probably be in the woods for another day or two at least. My daughter is coming over for the weekend, so that’ll brighten my mood. Other than that, I’ll just be treading water.

So there you have it, the reason for my silence. Now that I’ve solved that mystery for you, it’s time to make myself something to eat and figure out which distraction I’ll use to get through the rest of today.

I’m sorry to hear that things are not going well for you. I have dealt with similar issues for years. I got into a habit of spending every spare moment at home avoiding my wife and kids, resorting to hours of movie watching and video games, trying to do anything to take my mind off my life, and the depressing hole I found myself in.

I’m not saying this will work for you, but in February I started going to a cognitive-behavioral therapist and was given anti-depressants to help. It has made a world of difference for me.

In the end, you’ll just have to find a way to climb back out, but I’ll be praying for you to get out of the Bad Days and back into the Good Days. I wish you all the best.
